The Public Works Committee is responsible for sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water, streets, sidewalks, alleys, street lighting, bridges, underpasses, grades, public utilities, purchasing, cemeteries, railroads, garbage, rubbish, weed control, public buildings, parking utility, forestry, public grounds and parks.

The Public Works Committee is responsible for liaison with the Engineering Department and the Department of Public Works.
