First Aid TrainingPediatric Medic First aid training is available for school child-care personnel and parents to learn CPR for infants and children, rescue breathing, choking prevention, and other to deal with other childhood emergencies. American Red Cross First Aid Training teaches school health room workers, parents and other personnel basic first aid skills and information on how to care for children who become ill or injured during the regular school day. Call the Health Department for more information. Special ProgramsThe Health Educators of the West Allis Health Department are always ready to present interesting health programs to provided on health topics and Health Department services to work sites, schools, churches and community groups. These programs are provided free or at a nominal charge. Programs topics available include alcohol and drug abuse prevention, demonstrations of baby bath and baby care techniques, breast self-exam techniques, childhood illnesses and immunizations, eating disorders, exercise, hand washing, head lice, Health Department services and tours, health fair displays, the Heimlich maneuver, human growth and reproductions, hypertension, lead poisoning, menstrual hygiene, nutrition, peer pressure and self-esteem, personal hygiene, poison control, sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, the dangers of smoking and smokeless tobacco , smoking cessation, stress management , "Walk On West Allis" fitness program, weight management and healthy eating and wellness. Special programs can be designed for your group. Tours of the Health DepartmentGroup tours of the Health Department are available for your group. Please call the Health Department to schedule a tour approximately two weeks in advance. Other ResourcesHealth pamphlets and other resource materials are provided to individuals and groups in limited quantities.
