Environmental Health is a regulatory and licensing agency for food service establishments, public swimming pools, mobile home parks, bed and breakfasts, hotels and motels, school food service programs, recreational/educational camps, tattoo and body piercing establishments, massage establishments, and food vending machine operations. Environmental Health also investigates nuisance complaints (garbage, odors, noise, pollution, etc), housing complaints, rodent and insect infestations, lead based paint hazards, asbestos hazards, human or animal rabies exposure, and other environmental hazards. Environmental Health informs and offers consultation for a variety of environmental health topics such as radon, asbestos, and lead.

The Health Commissioner or his or her agent may enter into and examine any place in the City of West Allis to ascertain health conditions and may order abatement of the nuisance, if one exists.
