The West Allis Public Library offers a variety of programs for adults and children. Check the Library Calendar page or call the Library for current program dates.

Adult Summer Reading

This summer adults 18 and over can take part in a summer reading program at the library. The Adult summer Reading Program is open to Milwaukee County residents. It runs from Monday, June 14 through Friday, August 27, 2010. Read four books and be entered into an end of summer drawing for gift cards from West Allis businesses. Stop in at the Information Desk or call 302-8500.

West Allis Leisure Timers

Programs are offered for adults who enjoy viewing films and slides relating to travel and history. Programs are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the Library's Constitution Room. Check the Library Calendar listing for upcoming programs.

Tuesday Night Book Discussion

Open to the public, this book discussion group meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Library Conference Room. Check the Library Calendar page for upcoming books.

Wednesday Morning Book Discussion

Open to the public, this book discussion group meets the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00 am in the Library Conference Room. Check the Library Calendar page for upcoming books.

Frieds of the West Allis Public Library Book Sales

The Friends’ of the West Allis Public Library will host book sales on April 10, May 8 and June 12. April 10 will feature gardening books, while May 8 will feature Children’ s books. June 12 will be Men’s reading interest and westerns. The book sales will be held on the Second Saturday of the month from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Teen Writers Camp

Do you write poetry, short stories or novels? Do you want to practice writing for fun? Are you looking for something to do this summer? Then come to the Library’s first ever Teen Writers Camp. June 12th will be on journal writing, June 24th planning and tracking, July 1st narrative non-fiction, July 15th poetry, July 22nd short stories and July 29th polish and publish. Come to one or all six sessions. At each session you come to, you will get something for your writer’s kit. Come to all six sessions and receive a special prize! All sessions are open to Milwaukee County Teens, ages 12-18 or students going into 6th – 12th grade. Any questions call the Library information desk at 302-8500.

Come and celebrate the end of Summer Reading! We’ll have the grand prize drawings, games, snacks and for the first time a silent auction. This event will take place in the Library Constitution Room on August 26 from 7:00 –8:30 p.m. Pick up a flyer for all the rules or call the Adult Information Desk at 302-8500.
