Auto theft is a growing national epidemic. In an effort to confront this problem, the West Allis Police Department, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, started the Combat Auto Theft Program.

The goals of the Combat Auto Theft program are to prevent motor vehicle thefts and arrest car thieves. Car owners sign a consent form that allows the police to stop the vehicle without cause if it is operated between the hours of 1:00 am and 5:00 am.

When the owner registers the vehicle, they receive three Combat Auto Theft decals made of tough reflective material which are placed in the vehicle windows to identify it to Police officers as a C.A.T. vehicle.
