Police Department |
Crime Prevention >Each year, the Police Department receives a grant from the Development Department's Community Development funds to provide basic home security to people with moderate incomes. This program includes deadbolt locks, unbreakable glass, bars for basement windows and window security. There are two ways in which West Allis residents can qualify for this program. The easiest way to qualify is by income. Contact the Crime Prevention Bureau or Community Development Division to find out the current limits for moderate income levels. If you do not qualify by income and you are 62 years of age or older you qualify for the senior program. Applications for the home security program are available at the West Allis City Hall, Community Development Division of the Department of Development. Once your application has been approved, it is sent to the Crime Prevention Bureau. We will make arrangements to come to your home for a security survey. We make the recommendations and you choose which security devices you want installed in your home. Since 1988, over 2,750 homes have been secured. This is an excellent City service that provides residents with a sense of security in their homes. |
