Special Investigations and Gang Suppression Units

Task force officers maintain a liaison with our unit for drug and gang investigations that directly affect the City of West Allis and surrounding areas. One member of the unit is assigned to the D.E.A. Task Force, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Group.

Because of the activities of our Special Investigations Unit and our involvement in various drug task forces, the West Allis Police Department has seized and confiscated hundreds of thousands of dollars in drugs, cash, and property. This money is placed in the Asset Forfeiture Account. The types of expenditures allowed are dictated by strict Federal Guidelines. The following types of purchases are authorized under this program: buy money, travel and training expenses, communications and computers, firearms, body armor and protective gear, surveillance equipment and vehicles, building improvements, and other law enforcement expenses.

The Crisis Response Unit is responsible for managing high-risk incidents, including hostage, barricaded persons, armed suicidal individuals and search warrant execution.
