Training Bureau >

The West Allis Police Reserve was organized in 1942 as a Civil Defense Program during World War II. In 1972 they became known as the West Allis Police Reserve. The Reserves are a non-profit service organization comprised of approximately 50 volunteers who assist the Police Department by providing security at civic events, traffic control during parades, and a variety of other services, all at no cost to the city. Reserve officers receive training at monthly meetings given by members of the police department.

The Police Reserves receive extensive training in communication skills, radio procedures, traffic/crowd control, C.P.R. and first aid. This training will assist members of the reserves, should an emergency situation tax the manpower of the Department.

Duties while assisting regular police officers will include but are not limited to; West Allis Police Department Crime Prevention events, and pedestrian / traffic control and programs to benefit needy families within West Allis such as the Hat, Mitten, and Coat Drive and Holiday Gift Baskets. Reserve officers also work with local organizations such as Special Olympics, The West Allis Chamber of Commerce, WA/WM School District and the Community Alliance Against Drugs (CAAD) program.

The Police Reserves, a highly-motivated group of professionals, are driven by their desire to serve the West Allis Police Department and the Citizens of West Allis.
