The Victim Advocate Program works with victims of domestic violence and sexual assaults offering crisis intervention and case management services. The Victim Advocate will provide support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. It is the goal of this program to offer the victims the encouragement to empower and free themselves from the cycle of violence.

The Victim Advocate focuses on the needs of the victim with respect, dignity and care; and will support the victim through the criminal justice process, obtaining a restraining order, and referrals for counseling.

Services offered by the Victim Advocate include:

  • Emergency Response and Crisis Intervention services: The advocate will respond to the scene of a domestic violence or sexual assault incident with the police and offer immediate counseling, support, and referrals.
  • Information on how to obtain a Restraining Order or Domestic Violence Injunction: The advocate will support and assist victims in the criminal justice system with obtaining a restraining order.
  • Safety Assessment and Safety Planning :The advocate will develop an individual plan with victims to ensure their safety from their abuser.
  • Referrals and Support for victims: The advocate will respect victims needs and make referrals for support groups, individual counseling, shelter or other community resources.
  • Transportation: The advocate will offer transportation for victims in need of medical treatment or obtaining a restraining order. Transportation is based on the individual needs.
  • Ongoing Case Management::The advocate will build rapport with victims and stay in contact with victims based on their individual needs.

Advocate Programs

Parent and Adolescent Positive Parenting Nurturing Program

Being a teen can be tough. Parenting a teen can be tough. The West Allis Police Department is collaborating with Walker's Point Youth and Family Center to offer a program for parents and adolescents, ages 11 through 17 years. Families work together to learn to talk without yelling, learn to listen without lecturing and learn to understand without criticism. The Program is free of charge and includes dinner and snacks. Teen D.R.A.M.A

The Teen D.R.A.M.A. ( Dating Relationships Among Mature Adolescents) program is an educational and dating violence prevention program based on the Book, The Breakable Vow, by Kathryn Clarke. Call (414) 302-8065 for more information.
